Three Arrested as Bengaluru Kidnapping Chase Leaves Woman Critical and Pedestrians Injured

Three men were arrested on Thursday following the dramatic daylight abduction of a 21-year-old married woman in Agrahara Dasarahalli, a high-speed vehicle chase and a collision that left a woman critically injured.

DCP West Bengaluru, Yathish N., told reporters that the victim and her husband had moved to Bengaluru after their families opposed their love marriage. The husband operated an electrical shop in the city.

According to police, three men arrived in a car at the couple's second-floor residence around 7.30 pm on Wednesday while the husband was at work. They dragged the woman out and forced her into the vehicle.

"When local residents questioned them and tried to rescue the woman, they threatened them and took her away," the DCP said.

The Chase and Collisions

Local residents pursued the fleeing vehicle as it moved through the Govindarajanagar and Vijayanagar areas. During the escape, the car struck six pedestrians. One woman sustained critical injuries, while five others suffered minor injuries.

The chase concluded in Vijayanagar, where residents intercepted the car, detained the occupants, and handed them over to the police. Officers registered a case at the Magadi Road police station.

Investigators are probing whether a fourth suspect was involved in the kidnapping. Initial findings suggest the woman's parents allegedly issued a supari, or contract, to abduct their daughter due to familial opposition to her marriage.

Premeditated Setup

The house owner, Mahadeva, told police that the suspects had rented the property three to four days prior through an acquaintance. They claimed they were awaiting their sister's arrival from Rajasthan to celebrate Rakhi, though the rental agreement had not yet been finalized.

Police are verifying the total number of individuals involved and reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident as investigations continue.
