Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Bhutan, has expressed deep sorrow over the blast in Delhi and extended condolences to the families of the victims. Referring to the incident during his address in Bhutan, PM Modi said that he had arrived with a heavy heart, as the horrific event in Delhi the previous evening had left him deeply pained.

He said he understands the grief of the affected families and assured that the entire nation stands with them. PM Modi mentioned that he was in touch with all investigative agencies and key officials throughout the night and that discussions were ongoing to connect all the dots in the case.

He asserted that the investigating agencies will go to the root of the conspiracy, and those involved in this plot will not be spared.

The prime minister added that the entire nation shares the sorrow of the families who have lost their loved ones, conveying condolences and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. He also said that security and law enforcement agencies have been directed to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that the culprits face the strictest possible action.

PM Modi noted that the day holds great significance for Bhutan, the royal family, and for all those who believe in global peace. He emphasised the long-standing deep, cultural, and spiritual ties between India and Bhutan, saying that attending this important occasion was both his duty and commitment.

During his visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, focusing on strengthening cooperation in energy, trade, security, and cultural exchange.

Both leaders will also jointly inaugurate the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydroelectric project, considered a major milestone in India-Bhutan energy cooperation that will further strengthen bilateral relations.

PM Modi’s visit coincides with the public display of sacred relics of Lord Buddha, brought from India to Bhutan for devotees. He will visit the Tashichho Dzong Monastery in Thimphu to offer prayers and pay homage to the relics. The prime minister will also participate in the Global Peace Prayer Festival organised by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
