Thar-Endeavour Collision in Jaipur Leaves Three E-Rickshaw Passengers Critically Injured

Three e-rickshaw passengers were seriously injured early on Monday after a speeding Mahindra Thar collided with a Ford Endeavour at a busy intersection near Mansarovar Metro Station in Jaipur, before crashing into their vehicle and flinging it nearly 50 feet.

Sequence of Events

According to the police, the dramatic collision occurred around 1.05 am on Monday. CCTV footage of the crash reportedly shows Endeavour crossing the intersection when the speeding Thar, allegedly being driven rashly, struck it while attempting to negotiate a turn.

The momentum of the crash sent the Thar ramming into the adjacent e-rickshaw. The extreme impact flung the smaller three-wheeled vehicle approximately 50 feet through the air, damaging it completely. The Thar overturned at the scene immediately after the impact.

MLA's Wife Connection and Investigation

Police verification revealed that the Endeavour involved in the pile-up is registered in the name of Lalita Chandana, wife of Congress MLA Ashok Chandana. The SUV was reportedly seized from the spot for forensic and technical examination.

"It is yet to be ascertained if she was driving the vehicle," a police officer stated.

Both drivers and all occupants of the two SUVs fled the scene on foot immediately following the crash. The Jaipur Police have impounded both the Thar and the Endeavour and are currently scrutinising CCTV footage from surrounding cameras to establish the precise sequence of events and identify everyone involved.

Victims Hospitalised

The three injured passengers from the e-rickshaw reportedly identified as Boduram Sahu, Umashankar Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar were rescued from the wreckage and rushed to a nearby private hospital. Medical authorities reported that two of the victims remain in critical condition.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) detailing allegations of rash driving and drunkenness, with further investigations currently underway.
