Telangana Woman Arrested for Killing Husband By Injecting Toilet Cleaner During Treatment

A woman in Telangana’s Nizamabad district has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband by injecting toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills into his intravenous (IV) line after an earlier attempt to kill him by pushing him off a terrace reportedly failed, police said.

Three Accused Arrested

Police arrested the victim’s wife, Sandhya, along with her alleged lover, Anil, and his friend, Venkat Sai alias Bunty. According to investigators, the trio conspired to murder 35-year-old Dayini Prashanth on June 30.

The case was solved after Prashanth’s mother filed a complaint, expressing suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.

Victim Had Recently Returned From Gulf

Police said Prashanth had been working in the Gulf for the past two years and returned home on June 27. He had reportedly decided not to return abroad.

Investigators alleged that Sandhya, 32, considered her husband an obstacle to continuing her extramarital relationship with Anil, prompting the alleged conspiracy.

Earlier Attempt On Terrace Failed

During the investigation, police found that the accused had first attempted to kill Prashanth on June 29.

According to police, Venkat Sai allegedly made Prashanth consume a large quantity of liquor before taking him to the terrace of his house and pushing him off, allegedly following instructions given by Sandhya over the phone.

Despite suffering serious injuries, Prashanth survived the fall. The accused allegedly told him he had accidentally fallen while intoxicated and admitted him to a government hospital before later shifting him to a private hospital and eventually bringing him home.

Toilet Cleaner Allegedly Injected Through IV Line

Police said Sandhya, who had received nurse training and works at a private hospital, was administering IV fluids to her husband at home.

Investigators alleged that, as part of the plan, she injected a mixture of toilet cleaner and crushed sleeping pills into his veins through a cannula. Police further alleged that she later pushed him from the cot, resulting in his death.

Mother’s Complaint Led To Investigation

The accused allegedly attempted to portray Prashanth’s death as a consequence of the injuries he sustained in the terrace fall.

However, Prashanth’s mother, who lives separately, approached the police after becoming suspicious. She told investigators she was unaware that her son had returned home or of the events leading up to his death.

Following the investigation, police arrested all three accused and produced them before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
