Amid the allegations of bribery by the US court, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday said that his government has declined ₹100 crore donation from the Adani Foundation to the Young India Skills University.

The CM said that he has written to the Adani, declining the amount, as it was garnering 'unnecessary discussions', according to reports.

Notably, the Telangana government was accused of appeasement of Adani by the Bhartiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) over the donation.

This comes after Gautam Adani, the founder and chairman of Adani Group, along with seven others were alleged by The Eastern District of New York court on Wednesday charged with multiple counts of fraud including bribery and lying to US investors.

Senior executives of an Indian renewable energy company, an American company, and a Canadian investor were involved in a bribery scheme. They bribed Indian government officials to secure solar energy supply contracts and allegedly misrepresented their anti-bribery practices to investors. As per the court document, they also obstructed a US government investigation into the scheme.

The defendants are accused of paying more than $250 million in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy contracts worth billions of dollars for Adani Green Energy, a renewable energy company majority-owned by Adani Group.

The Adani Group has denied all the allegations.
