Two terrorists who were arrested in a joint operation by Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF on  Sunday had planned to carry out an attack at Ayodhya's Ram Temple, the suspects revealed during questioning.

The arrest has busted a major attack plan by one of the suspects, Abdul Rahman. As per sources in security agencies, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI was planning an attack on Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir through Rahman.

As per reports, Rahman was associated with multiple extremist groups. He ran a mutton shop in Faizabad and also worked as an auto driver.

Rahman had planned to attack Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir using a hand grenade and cause massive destruction, according to sources.

As part of the conspiracy, Rahman had conducted multiple reconnaissance visits to the temple and shared all the information with Pakistan’s ISI.

Initially, he travelled from Faizabad to Faridabad by train. Later, a handler provided him with hand grenades, which he was supposed to take back and use in Ayodhya. However, before the plan could succeed, based on inputs from central intelligence agencies, the Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF arrested the suspect.

Rahman is a resident of Milkipur in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, and is allegedly linked to a terrorist organisation. During interrogation, he provided information about weapons hidden in an abandoned house in the Pali area.

Following this lead, a team from ATS and Faridabad police reached the location. On Sunday evening, the Gujarat ATS team arrived in Pali, where the Faridabad police were already deployed.

During this period, no civilians were allowed to enter or exit the area. According to sources, the team conducted an intensive search of the abandoned house for nearly four hours and seized two live hand grenades.
