People’s choice of PM candidate
As the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 come close, an independent polling agency’s results state that 62% of people have voted for PM Narendra Modi for the position of PM of India. Meanwhile, 6% of people chose chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Moreover, only 3% of people considered chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the position of PM. The second-most option, however, can be considered the most surprising, with 20% of the votes.
20% voted for Rahul Gandhi
After PM Modi’s 62%, 20% people considered Rahul Gandhi for the second-best contender for the post of PM. With recent election win in Karnataka, his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, and the ‘INDIA’ alliance, seems to have worked for Gandhi.
Narendra Modi, the only PM candidate for BJP
Rahul Gandhi, however, is yet to be confirmed by the Opposition as the face for the PM. BJP has clearly stated that the face of the party will be prime minister Narendra Modi. The question still stands about the face for the elections from the newly-formed opposition party, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
A total of 26 opposition parties announced an alliance called INDIA on July 18. The objective of this grand alliance was to defeat the government from the centre.
The upcoming assembly elections
The upcoming assembly elections of Nov-Dec 2023 are to be dubbed the semi-finale of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
In Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, the main rivals are said to be the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal also announced that he would contest the election in these states.
Chhattisgarh assembly speculations
As per an independent polling agency survey, in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) may form the government in the state. 46 seats are required for a majority in Chhattisgarh, and Congress may get 48-54 seats out of the total 90 seats in the state.
