A survey was conducted by the Average Salary Survey, which, as the name suggests, determines the annual average salaries of different sections of the world. This survey was conducted across India, where 11,570 patrons submitted their salary reports. The average salary in India was surveyed to be ₹18.9 lakh.
In a surprise appearance, Maharashtra’s Solapur has topped this list with an average salary in the city amounting to ₹28.1 lakh. However, it was observed that only two people had contributed to the survey, granting Solapur the top spot. India’s metro cities, Mumbai (₹21.2 lakh) and Bengaluru (₹21 lakh), have managed the second and third spots, respectively, in this list.
Vadodara emerged as Gujarat’s only city in top 20
Gujarat’s cities were absent from the top 10 of this list. It is Vadodara that booked the 16th spot with an annual salary averaging ₹17.3 lakh. Gujarat’s largest cities, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Surat, were positioned 26th, 30th, and 36th in the rankings, where their average salaries were ₹14.5 lakh, ₹14.1 lakh, and ₹12.7 lakh, respectively.
Sections and genders that outperformed others
Salaried individuals with management and business backgrounds were the top-most earners, at an average of ₹29.5 lakhs, while annual average salaries for Law and aviation-shipping ranked second (₹27 lakh) and third (₹23.9 lakh), respectively.
The survey established a gender-based bifurcation as well between men and women and established that men earn 28% more in annual salary as compared to women.
