Study in India portal launched for international students
The portal will inform international students about academic facilities, research support, and related information

In an effort to make higher education easily accessible in India for international students, a portal was launched by the centre today. The central government launched ‘Study in India’ (SII) portal in New Delhi. It was jointly launched by union external affairs minister S Jaishankar and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
SII aims to provide information about higher education institutions in India and academic programmes at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctorate levels at various institutions. It is being done in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP).

The portal will inform users about academic facilities, research support, and related information. The portal is designed to enable students to apply to more than one institute or course of their choice. Most importantly, the new portal will allow the international students to apply for student registration and the visa application process.
While addressing the gathering, S Jaishankar said, “From registration to visa approval and selecting desired courses or institutions, the portal will simplify the entire journey of international students wishing to study in India.”. The minister further added that the presence of international students will also benefit domestic students by connecting them more closely to the globalising world and preparing them better for the global workplace.
He mentioned how the implementation of NEP, 2020 has already initiated the entrance of foreign universities into India and the opening of international campuses at premier institutions in India.
