A South Korean woman was allegedly sexually harassed by an airport staff member at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Monday during a routine security check. The accused has been arrested following a complaint by the victim.

According to reports, the incident occurred during ticket inspection when the staffer informed the woman that her bag was making a beeping sound and asked her to step aside for further checking. She was then allegedly taken to a men’s restroom under the pretext of inspection, where the accused reportedly touched her inappropriately.

Reports also stated that despite the woman objecting to the manner in which the check was being conducted, the accused allegedly continued with his actions and later allowed her to leave. The matter was immediately reported to airport security personnel, who detained the accused and handed him over to the airport police.

The accused has been identified as a ground staff member employed on a contractual basis for security-related duties. Police said CCTV footage from the airport premises corroborated the woman’s complaint.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused was taken into custody, and further investigation is currently underway.

Airport authorities have assured full cooperation with the police in the ongoing probe.
