Smriti Irani’s rare praise for Rahul Gandhi’s political evolution

After losing the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi this year, BJP leader Smriti Irani has come out praising Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi.

Smriti Irani remarked that there has been a significant change in Rahul’s demeanour and political approach.

Speaking on a podcast, Irani said, “There has been a transformation in Rahul Gandhi’s politics. He seems to think he has tasted success, and for the first time, he is speaking so instrumentally. He is now engaging in a different kind of politics.”

Irani further commented, “If we observe closely, he is speaking very carefully on caste politics. When Rahul wears a T-shirt in Parliament, he knows the message it sends to the younger generation. The BJP should not misunderstand and think that any of Rahul’s actions are merely good, bad, or immature; he is now practising a different kind of politics.”

Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh, P C Sharma, shared a video of Irani’s statement and commented, “Nafrat Ke Bazaar Mein Mohabbat Ki Dukaan (A shop of love in the market of hatred — one of the ideas Rahul rallied for in the 2024 general elections) Smriti Irani is praising Rahul.”

Earlier, Rahul had advised Congress workers not to make derogatory or indecent remarks against Irani or any other leader after she lost the Amethi seat in the Lok Sabha elections. He stated, “Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter.”
