Slapped by teacher, upset student shoots teacher in Uttarakhand school

A class 9 student in Uttarakhand shot his Physics teacher with a country-made gun, two days after the teacher had slapped him, according to reports.

The student, who shot the teacher during lunchtime, was reportedly overpowered by other teachers and handed over to the police. He was upset with the teacher after he had slapped him, even though he had answered correctly a question posed to him.

The student had smuggled the gun in his lunch box, as per the reports.

The teacher, identified as Gagandeep Singh Kohli, was shifted to the hospital with an injured shoulder and is believed to be out of danger for now.

The police are now looking into how a teenager got access to the firearm after the teacher filed a formal complaint against the student.
