Shivam Mishra from Lamborghini crash case granted bail hours after the arrest, court cites lack of evidence

A Kanpur court on Thursday granted bail to Shivam Mishra,, the accused in the Lamborghini crash that caused several pedestrians to be injured, just a few hours after the arrest.

​Mishra was released on a personal bond of ₹20,000 after the court rejected the police plea for 14 days judicial remand, citing a lack of concrete evidence at this stage. During the hearing, Mishra argued his own case, while the judge questioned aspects of the police investigation and the notice served to him. The court directed him to cooperate fully with the investigation and submit the required documents.

​The accident on Sunday, when a Lamborghini Revuelto, valued at over ₹10 crore, allegedly lost control on VIP road and rammed into pedestrians and a vehicle before stopping on a divider. An FIR was lodged by the injured e-rickshaw driver, Mohd Taufeeq.

​According to reports, a person named Mohan surrendered himself claiming to be an accused of this crash, but the court declined his surrender.

​According to reports, CCTV footage, witness statements, and videos depict that Shivam was pulled out from the driver's seat after the crash. KK Mishra, accused’s father and tobacco baron, also claimed that  Shivam was not driving the car when the incident took place.

Through investigation, however,  it was confirmed that Shivam was driving the car.
