Shankaracharya receives death threats during cow protection campaign
Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotishpeeth has received death threats through text and audio messages on his mobile phone, as per reports. The threats came while he was preparing for a nationwide cow protection campaign, his followers and saint community have expressed anger and demanded strict action.
According to reports, several abusive text messages were sent to official mobile number of Jyotirmath on April 1, between 10.25 am and 10.35 am, after number was blocked, threatening audio messages were again received through voicemail on April 6 at around 1.55 pm and 1.57 pm. These messages allegedly included serious death threats and warnings about a possible attack during his upcoming journey.
Shankaracharya is currently leading a campaign called ‘Gau Mata–Rashtra Mata’, demanding a complete ban on cow slaughter, as part of this movement, his ‘Gavishti Yatra’ is scheduled to begin on May 3 across every legislative assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Through this yatra, he aims to spread awareness about cow protection and encourage the establishment of ‘Rama Gau Dham’ in each constituency.
Followers of the Shankaracharya believe threats are linked to his strong stand on cow protection, some have also suggested that it could be part of a planned conspiracy. The saint community has urged authorities to provide security and conduct a thorough investigation.
Legal preparations are underway, and his legal team is expected to file a formal complaint soon, supporters have demanded immediate action against those responsible for sending the threatening messages.
