Women in power: Seven women ministers of Modi 3.0 cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the third time on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Seven women MPs have been placed in the Modi cabinet this time. It includes Nirmala Sitharaman, Annapurna Devi, Anupriya Patel, Shobha Karandlaje, Raksha Khadse, Savitri Thakur and Nimu Bambhaniya.

1. Nirmala Sitharaman

Nirmala Sitharaman was sworn in as the Minister for Corporate Affairs and the 28th Finance Minister of India in 2019. She has also served as India's second woman defence minister. Sitharaman joined the BJP in 2006 and was appointed as the party's national spokesperson in 2010.

In 2014, she was inducted as a junior minister from Andhra Pradesh in Narendra Modi's cabinet. 

2. Annapurna Devi

Annapurna Devi, who was elected from Jharkhand, has become an MP for the second time in the Modi cabinet. Earlier in 2019, she contested from Koderma from BJP. She was also the Minister of State for Education earlier.

Annapurna Devi is also the National Vice President of BJP. Earlier she was in Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

3. Anupriya Patel

Anupriya Patel is one of the youngest women in Uttar Pradesh politics. She represents his father Sonelal's party Apna Dal (S). Apna Dal is divided into two factions. Anupriya Patel belongs to Apna Dal (S), whereas Apna Dal (Krishna Patel Group) is represented by his mother. Anupriya Patel was born on April 29, 1981, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

4. Shobha Karndlaje

Third time Lok Sabha MP Shobha Karandlaje was included in Modi's cabinet once again. Earlier she was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Shobha, 57, completed her graduation in social work and MA in sociology. She is one of former Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa's personal associates and has a 25-year-old relationship with the BJP.

5. Raksha Khadse

Raksha Khadse, who is part of the Modi cabinet, has a bachelor’s degree in computer science. 37-year-old Raksha Khadse is the daughter-in-law of Maharashtra BJP leader Eknath Khadse's son. Khadse became an MP for the first time at the age of 26.

6. Savitri Thakur

Savitri Thakur, a tribal woman who won from the Dhar Lok Sabha seat, will represent Madhya Pradesh's Malwa and Nimad regions in the MP and Union Cabinet. 46-year-old Savitri Thakur is a popular face of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh and has completed an inspiring journey from Panchayat to Modi cabinet.

7. Nimube Bambhaniya

Bambhaniya is an MP from Bhavnagar, Gujarat. She is a politician as well as an activist. Before the elections, she was the mayor.

She contested the election in place of former MP Bharti Shayal from Bhavnagar and beat her opponent by over 4.5 lakh votes. Born in 1966, Bambhaniya is a graduate in science and also holds a bachelor of education degree.
