SC directs day-to-day hearing from Aug 2 of a batch of pleas challenging abrogation of Article 370
The removal of Article 370 took place on Aug 5, 2019
The former state was bifurcated into two UTs: J&K and Ladakh

The Supreme Court today decided to hear on a day-to-day basis from Aug 2 on a batch of petitions challenging the Centre's decision to scrap special status under Article 370 to Jammu & Kashmir and bifurcate the state into two UTs, J&K and Ladakh on Aug 5, 2019.
A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, scheduled a day-to-day hearing from Aug 2 on 23 writ petitions.
What Supreme Court said
“The hearing of the petitions before the constitution bench shall commence on Aug 2, 10:30 a.m. and then proceed on a day-to-day basis barring miscellaneous days, ie, on Monday and Friday. Prasanna and Kanu Aggarwal shall be the nodal counsel for preparation of common convenience compilation,” the CJI said in the order.
The Apex Court also said that the written submissions should be filed on or before July 27 and no more submissions shall be allowed thereafter.
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, senior law officer of the Union of India, submitted that though the Centre has filed an additional affidavit setting out the central govt view on post-notification development, it would have no bearing on the constitutional question and it would not be relied upon.
The SG Mehta also said that the Centre's affidavit on July 10 was to inform the SC about post-August 2019 developments in the UTs and conceded that it would have no bearing on the issue - constitutional validity of scrapping Article 370 conferring special status on J&K.
This batch of petitions filed before the top court had challenged the Aug 5, 2019 decision of the Union government to scrap special status under Article 370 to Jammu & Kashmir and bifurcate the state into two UTs, J&K and Ladakh.
