As the final deadline to declare their property details ended on Aug 31, the Uttar Pradesh government has ceased the salary disbursements of more than 2 lakh of its employees.
Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath-led government mandated its employees to disclose their movable and immovable assets on the Manav Sampada portal, an employee management platform.
However, as the portal reportedly only received data from 71% of the employees, the government went ahead with this harsh stance.
The initial deadline to submit these details was, as per reports, Dec 31, 2023. But after multiple extensions spanning from June 30 and thereafter July 31, the final deadline was set to Aug 31.
A notice informing the same to statewide heads of departments was issued by the chief secretary, Manoj Kumar Singh, before withholding the salaries.
According to reports, the salaries of 2,44,565 employees have been put on hold.
These reportedly include several IAS, IPS, PPS (provincial police service), and PCS (provincial civil service).
The defaulters are to be provided with another month’s extension to fill these details on the portal, adds the report.
