Rolls-Royce to set up MRO unit in Tamil Nadu after meeting with CM MK Stalin

The MK Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu announced on Wednesday that global aerospace and defence giant Rolls-Royce has shown keen interest in expanding its presence in the state, according to reports.
The UK-based company is planning to set up a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, establish a research and training centre, and significantly scale up its IAMPL joint venture in Hosur, the government said.
The state industries department reportedly said that Tamil Nadu is home to one of India’s two Defence Industrial Corridors, and this engagement with Rolls-Royce underscores the state’s potential as a hub for advanced aerospace manufacturing.
During his recent visit to the UK, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin reportedly showcased the state’s strengths in electric mobility, renewable energy, IT services, and manufacturing, inviting deeper UK participation through trade and investment.
The meeting builds on Stalin’s broader UK itinerary, which has already seen the signing of several strategic MoUs in aerospace, maritime intelligence, renewable energy, textiles, and design education.
