In the RG Kar rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy, the primary accused, denied his involvement, claiming he was being falsely implicated. After the Sealdah Court pronounced him guilty, Roy stated that he had no role in the crime and alleged a conspiracy against him. He further claimed that an IPS officer was involved in the incident that led to the tragic death of the postgraduate medical trainee on August 9.

As per the reports, Roy highlighted inconsistencies in the evidence, stating that tampering had occurred. He stated, he has been falsely implicated. Those who have done so are being let go. He pointed to his personal belongings as proof of his innocence, stating he always wears a chain of Rudraksh on his neck. If he committed the crime, his chain would have been broken at the place of occurrence and investigators would have found the remains of the broken chain. He further added that he can’t commit this kind of crime.

Despite his claims, the court convicted Roy under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape and murder, citing strong evidence against him. 

His statements, however, have raised concerns about possible lapses or manipulation during the investigation, leading to further calls for deeper scrutiny into the case and the involvement of others.
