Republic Day 2025: Kartavya Path graced with culture, glory, and bravery

As India her 76th Republic Day at Kartavya Path, Delhi, Prime Minister Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and chief guest Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, arrived on Sunday.
This is President Prabowo's first state visit to India. This will be the first time that an Indonesian marching and band contingent will participate in a national day parade abroad.

Touching the sky with glory

The most awaited tradition of the ceremony is now on. The ‘Fly-past’ witnessed a breath-taking air show by 40 aircraft/helicopters - 22 fighter jets, 11 transport aircraft and seven helicopters - of IAF. These include Rafale, Su-30, Jaguar, C-130, C-295, C-17, AWACS, Dornier-228 & An-32 aircraft and Apache & Mi-17 helicopters. They will display a variety of formations including Dhwaj, Ajay, Satluj, Rakshak, Arjan, Netra, Bheem, Amrit, Vajrang, Trishul and Vijay. The concluding Vertical Charlie maneuver will be performed by a Rafale fighter aircraft.
Daredevils on Kartavya Path
The Corps of Signals Motorcycle Rider Display Team, famously known as ‘The Dare Devils’, carried out breath-taking stunts during the motorcycle display. The team will showcase their bravery and determination through a number of formations, including Bullet Salute, Tank Top, Double Jimmy, Devils Down, Ladder Salute, Shatrujeet, Shraddhanjali, Mercury Peak, Info Warriors, Lotus and Human Pyramid.

5000 artists on Kartavya Path
This year, 5,000 artists in a title of ‘Jayati Jaya Mamaḧ Bharatam’ performed over 45 dance forms from different part of the country in a 11-minute cultural performance. For the first time, the performance will cover the entire Kartavya Path - from Vijay Chowk to C hexagon - to ensure that all guests get the same viewing experience.
Gujarat in Delhi on Republic Day
Prominently featured in the tableau is the iconic ‘Kirti Toran,’ a symbol of Gujarat’s cultural heritage from the 12th century, alongside the towering ‘Statue of Unity,’ the world’s tallest statue at 182 meters.
The tableau honours Gujarat’s ‘Tribal Pride’ with Pithora paintings and commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with the ‘Atal Bridge,’ an engineering marvel that spans the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. It also highlights Gujarat’s emerging Underwater Sports initiatives at Dwarika and Shivrajpur Beach.
Youth on Kartavya Path

The all-girls marching contingent of NCC - SW (Girls) - led by Senior Under Officer Ekta Kumari of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate. The all-boys marching contingent - SD (Boys) - led by Senior Under Officer Prasad Prakash Waikul of Maharashtra Directorate. The National Service Scheme (NSS) marching contingent of 148 volunteers will be led by Mr Deepak from Punjab.

Air Force Marching Contingent marches with pride. Flt. Lt. Nepo Moirangthem from Manipur led the IAF marching contingent. The IAF marching contingent will be commanded by Squadron Leader Mahender Singh, with Flt. Lt. Damini Deshmukh, Flt. Lt. Nepo Moirangthem, and Flying Officer Abhinav Ghosh as supernumerary officers. The contingent will comprise four other officers and 144 Airmen.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Marching Contingent showcased their discipline and national pride, with 152 personnel from all branches of the TNI taking part in the 76th Republic Day Parade.

Legends lead the way
The living legends, Param Vir Chakra awardees Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd), and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (Retd), and Ashok Chakra awardee Lieatanent Col Jas Ram Singh arrives at the Kartavya Path.

President Droupadi Murmu takes the salute of Parade Commander, Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar and Parade Second-in-Command Major General Sumit Mehta, during the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path.

76th Republic Day begins
The Mi-17V-5 helicopters of the 129 Helicopter Unit from Rashtrapati Bhavan take flight towards Kartavya Path. Leading the formation is Group Captain Alok Ahlawat with the National Flag, followed by Wing Commander Shailender Singh with the Army Flag, Wing Commander Rohit Tiwary with the Navy Flag, and Wing Commander Vinay with the Air Force Flag. A floral shower is being released from the sky, marking the grand beginning of the Republic Day celebrations

76th Republic Day
This year, the celebrations promise grandeur, with the theme “Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas”.
"Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India," wrote PM Modi on X.
Taking to his X account, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Happy Republic Day to all countrymen! Our Constitution, based on the values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity of our great freedom fighters, is the pride of the Indian Republic, it is the protective shield of every Indian irrespective of religion, caste, region, language - it is the duty of all of us to respect and protect it. Jai Hind, Jai India, Jai Constitution.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hoisted the national flag at his residence on Sunday.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hoisted the national flag in Bengaluru, accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
The event will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial, where he will pay floral tributes to the nation's heroes. President Droupadi Murmu and Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy.
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi conveyed his Republic Day greetings. In an X-post, the Indian Army stated, “On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and the Indian Army extend heartfelt greetings to all citizens.”
U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio extended Republic Day greetings to India. In his statement, he said, “On behalf of the United States, I extend congratulations to the people of India on their Republic Day. As India celebrates the adoption of its Constitution, we join in recognizing its enduring significance as the foundation of the world’s largest democracy.”
