A radioactive material leak at Lucknow Airport today triggered a series of alarms and forced the evacuation of thousands of people. The incident occurred during a routine security check of a flight bound for Guwahati. The leak originated from wooden boxes containing cancer treatment medications, which contained radioactive elements.
The security systems immediately triggered a series of alarming beeps, sparking panic among airport personnel. Within moments, the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) were called into action. The entire area surrounding the leak was swiftly evacuated, covering a radius of 1.5 kilometres
Security teams worked quickly to clear the scene, while an ongoing investigation aims to uncover the specifics of the leak. The radiation cannot be seen through the naked eye, the material is highly dangerous. Passengers and airport staff were moved to safety, and the area was secured as authorities assessed the situation.
