The Pune police registered a case against Dilip Khedkar, father of tainted ex-IAS officer Puja Khedkar, who is under investigation for allegedly securing her post through the disability quota based on forged documents.
Police officials suggest that the retired government official Dilip has been booked in Pune for threatening a public servant and obstructing the discharge of their public duties.
Based on a complaint filed by a Talati with the Pune District Collector, a case has been registered against Dilip at the Bund Garden police station. His arrest is highly likely in this case.
An official said, “The complaint states that when Puja was serving as an assistant collector, Dilip allegedly threatened the Talati Deepak Akhade and asked him to provide a separate cabin for his daughter. Dilip had no authority to interfere in government work.”
A senior Pune police officer said, “After receiving a complaint from the district administration, we have registered a case against Dilip Khedkar under sections 186 (obstructing public servants in the discharge of their public functions), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This incident took place in June this year.”
Notably, Pune’s Paud police had previously registered another case of criminal intimidation against Dilip. In this case, his wife, Manorama, was accused of pointing a gun at someone in the Mulshi area over a land dispute.
Dilip was granted anticipatory bail in that case, while his wife Manorama was arrested by the Pune rural police but was recently released on bail by the court.
On July 31, the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) cancelled Khedkar’s provisional candidature for CSE-2022, and permanently debarred her from all future exams/selections.
The UPSC said that its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) “could not detect her number of attempts primarily because she changed not only her name but also her parents’ names”.
The UPSC, Central government, Maharashtra government, and the police are conducting separate probes against Puja Khedkar, while the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie recently removed her from field training as a trainee IAS officer in Pune and Washim districts.
