Pramukh Swami Maharaj Biography Sets Guinness World Record With 8,848 Pages Across 13 Volumes

A 13-volume biography chronicling the life of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the fifth spiritual guru of the BAPS Swaminarayan organisation, has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the ‘Longest biography written by a single author’.

The official certificate was presented on Sunday, October 4, 2026, during celebrations marking the 93rd birth anniversary of Mahant Swami Maharaj at London’s OVO Arena Wembley.

Guinness World Records senior adjudicator Carl Saville presented the certificate to Mahant Swami Maharaj in the presence of more than 11,000 devotees at the arena. Millions more reportedly watched the event through a live webcast.

13 Volumes, 8,848 Pages And More Than 2.14 Million Words

The biography comprises 13 volumes containing 8,848 pages and 2,146,447 words.

The work was researched and written over 38 months, from July 2017 to August 2020. It was authored by Adarshjivandas Swami, a Sanskrit scholar and PhD holder.

According to the information released about the record, more than 310,000 copies of the various volumes have been distributed so far.

The series documents Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s 94-year life, from his birth in 1921 to his death in 2016, covering his spiritual leadership, service activities and humanitarian work.

Guinness Adjudicator Presents Official Certificate

Speaking during the certificate presentation, Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville described the achievement as an extensive documentation of an entire life.

Saville said Guinness World Records aims to showcase achievements that have not previously occurred and described it as an honour to be associated with the record.

Author Adarshjivandas Swami said the significance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life was far greater than that of the person who documented it.

He described the spiritual leader’s life as being dedicated to spirituality, humility and global harmony, adding that documenting his legacy was a privilege.

BAPS Records Second Guinness World Record In 2026

The recognition marks the second Guinness World Record associated with BAPS in 2026.

Earlier in February, 12,723 children in Vadodara set a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Mass Recitation of a Hindu Scripture’ by simultaneously reciting Sanskrit verses from Satsang Diksha, a text composed by Mahant Swami Maharaj.

As part of that initiative, more than 15,000 children had memorised all 315 verses of the scripture.

With the recognition of the Pramukh Swami Maharaj biography, two Guinness World Records have now been registered in connection with BAPS during 2026.
