India will mark its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading celebrations from the historic Red Fort in Delhi. This year’s theme, ‘Naya Bharat’, is part of the government’s goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The Prime Minister will unfurl the Tricolour and address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

Upon arrival, he will be received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, followed by a Guard of Honour comprising contingents from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police. The Indian Air Force is the coordinating service for this year’s ceremony.

Flying Officer Rashika Sharma will assist the prime minister in hoisting the flag, synchronised with a 21-gun salute by the 1721 Field Battery using indigenous 105mm Light Field Guns. The moment will be accompanied by the Air Force band, which, for the first time, will include 11 Agniveer Vayu musicians.

Two Mi-17 helicopters will shower flower petals over the venue, one carrying the National Flag and the other a flag depicting ‘Operation Sindoor’, whose success will be highlighted during the celebrations. The Gyanpath will display the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo, formed by 2,500 NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers.

Around 5,000 special guests from across the country have been invited, representing diverse walks of life.
