The state has also deployed an Army team of 70 personnel with five boats, while a 25-member fire service team is being sent to assist rescue operations.
CM Holds Review Meetings
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar to review the situation with officials and district collectors.
He also spoke to the Valsad Collector and Minister Naresh Patel to monitor the rescue work and directed officials to deploy additional NDRF teams if required.
The Chief Minister instructed the collectors of Surat and Navsari to shift people from low-lying and waterlogged areas to safer places wherever necessary.
He had also spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured the state of all necessary support from the Centre.
Heavy Rain Continues
Heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused flooding and disruption across South Gujarat.
Several areas in Valsad remain affected by flooding, while many roads in Dang district have been closed due to heavy rain. In Navsari, the Juj and Keliya dams are overflowing, prompting warnings for villages located downstream.
Rescue teams have evacuated people from flood-affected areas in Tapi district, while schools remained closed in Surat district on Thursday as a precaution.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of South and Central Gujarat, and authorities continue to monitor the situation.
