Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to travel to Mizoram and Manipur on September 13, according to reports.

As per officials in Aizawl, the Prime Minister is expected to begin his tour from Mizoram, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the newly completed Bairabi–Sairang railway project. The 51.38-km line, built under the Centre’s Act East Policy, will provide Mizoram’s capital Aizawl with a direct link to the national railway network through Assam’s Silchar, improving connectivity and economic opportunities in the Northeast.

Government sources in Mizoram said that following the programme in Aizawl, PM Modi is expected to fly to Manipur. If confirmed, this would mark his first visit to the state since ethnic clashes erupted there in May 2023. However, officials in Imphal stated that they have not yet received any official communication on the proposed visit.

In preparation, Mizoram Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena chaired a coordination meeting on Monday with various departments and law enforcement agencies to review security arrangements, traffic management, and reception plans. The discussions also included participation of government staff, farmers, and students at the inaugural ceremony scheduled in Lammaul, Aizawl.

Meanwhile, in Manipur, President’s Rule has recently been extended for another six months, until January 2026, following a resolution moved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha.
