PM Modi inaugurates Renewable Energy Meet, calls it base of future India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently visiting Gujarat, is scheduled to attend several key events today. He will launch Phase 2 of the Metro Rail project, and attend a conference at GMDC in Ahmedabad.
Before that, the PM inaugurated the three-day Renewable Energy Meet in Gandhinagar, as he visited Vavol village to meet beneficiaries of renewable energy household initiatives.
In the opening address at Mahatma Mandir in the meet, Union minister for New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi welcome the PM to the event, saying that Gujarat has emerged as a front runner in the green energy sector.
Welcoming guests and the PM, Gujarat Chief minister Bhupendra Patel mentioned Gujarat’s contribution to renewable energy with the first climate change department and the in Gujarat during PM Modi’s tenure as a chief minister of Gujarat.
Addressing the attendees, PM Modi said, “Our senior most ministers are here, whose valuable guidance will be help us understand the renewable energy through this meet.”
“This venue belongs to Mahatma Gandhi, who thought about environment before the world. India doesn't just want to be on top in terms of renewable energy, but to sustain itself in that place. Solar, Wind, nuclear and hydro power will be the base of India's future. India has brought the world together with Global solar alliance,” said PM Modi.
He said an average family will save ₹25,000 per year with PM Surya Ghar Yojna, and the scheme will also employ 3 lakh youth.
Taking his point further on sustainable renewable energy, he added, “My dream will be realised when Suryavanshi Lord Ram’s Ayodhya will run on solar energy”.
The meet was also attended by the chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, along with economic ministers of Germany and Denmark, with their delegations.
