Pilibhit Voter Roll Case: UP Orders Statewide Deactivation of ECINET Logins

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa has ordered the immediate deactivation of ECINET portal login IDs assigned to voter registration centre (VRC) operators across the state following alleged irregularities in voter roll entries in Pilibhit. He has also directed the termination of an outsourced computer assistant allegedly linked to the case.

The statewide action follows complaints of misuse of login credentials in Pilibhit, where an inquiry found that 13,779 voter-related forms were entered incorrectly on the ECINET portal between May 31 and August 29, 2026. Of these, 10,470 forms were approved.

District Officials Asked to Disable All VRC Logins

In his directive issued on Saturday, Rinwa instructed all district election officers (DEOs) to ensure that login IDs issued to VRC operators in every Assembly constituency under their jurisdiction are disabled immediately.

The move is intended to prevent the operators from carrying out any further activity on the ECINET portal.

Electoral registration officers (EROs) have been asked to confirm that all the IDs have been deactivated. DEOs must also independently verify the action across their districts and submit compliance reports to the CEO's office without delay.

Outsourced Assistant Faces Termination

In connection with the Pilibhit Assembly constituency (AC-127) case, the agency employing the outsourced computer assistant has been directed to terminate the individual's services immediately.

The assistant is allegedly involved in the irregularities under investigation.

Rinwa stressed that the measures were necessary to protect the integrity, security and transparency of electoral roll management. He warned district officials that any negligence or delay in implementing the instructions would not be tolerated.
