Pharma certificates to be issued for one year without Exit Test

In response to numerous requests, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has decided to grant an exemption to the students for one year, allowing them to receive their registration certificates without having to clear Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination (DPEE).
However, the pharmacists will have to clear PDEE to renew their registration.
The registration of a pharmacist after completing the Diploma in Pharmacy is done by the respective state pharmacy councils, in accordance with the rules of the PCI.
However, in 2022, the PCI had mandated students who completed the Diploma in Pharmacy to pass the test in order to register as pharmacists and receive their certificate. This regulation applied to those who enrolled in 2022-23 and onwards.
The PDEE was mandatory for those completing the Diploma in Pharmacy, and registration could only be granted after passing the test. However, protests arose due to the high registration fee of ₹5,900, as well as concerns about the qualification requirements.
Over 18,200 students across India, including more than 500 from Gujarat, had registered for the test. The test was scheduled for October, but it was cancelled just days before its scheduled date.
Two months after the cancellation, the Examination Board announced that it would refund the registration fee to the students. However, since PDEE was required for registration, many students found themselves in a difficult position.
It has been decided that the certificate will be issued for one year or until the test is conducted. However, state councils will require students to submit an affidavit and ensure that their registration will not be renewed until they pass the Exit Test. The decision to grant this one-year exemption has been communicated to all state pharmacy councils.
