Pay Interest or Video Goes Public' | How Bengaluru Woman Kidnapped, Assaulted Over Unpaid Loan Interest

Bengaluru police rescued a woman who was allegedly kidnapped, stripped, assaulted, and filmed during the attack by three individuals, including two women, over unpaid interest on a loan.

Trap Laid Under Pretext of Job Offer

According to police, the victim had borrowed ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu around two years ago, and later borrowed another ₹50,000 from Nazath through Reshma, taking the total amount to ₹1.5 lakh. Struggling with severe financial difficulties, she had stopped paying monthly interest instalments for six months and subsequently moved to her mother’s residence after blocking the lender's telephone number.

Lured to a house under the pretext of a job offer arranged by Nazath, the victim was ambushed by Reshma Banu and her husband, Suhail. Investigators stated that the attackers slashed the victim with a knife before forcing her into an autorickshaw and transporting her to a secluded house near Kumbalgodu.

Filmed and Threatened with Extortion

Inside the Kumbalgodu residence, the trio reportedly confined the victim, forcibly stripped her, and filmed the assault. They threatened to leak the video on social media platforms if the full outstanding amount was not settled immediately.

Rescue and Arrests

The ordeal ended after the victim's mother filed a missing-person report at the Chandra Layout police station. Officers tracked the victim's location, launched a raid, and rescued her from captivity.

Reshma Banu, Nazath, and Suhail have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the law for kidnapping, assault, extortion, and criminal intimidation. Further investigation into illegal moneylending activities is currently underway.
