The Parliament winter session has been adjourned on Wednesday till 11 am on November 28 after an intense uproar over Adani indictment.

The winter session resumed on Wednesday at 11 am with the opposition adopting an aggressive stance following incidents of violence in Sambhal, and US allegations on billionaire Gautam Adani. As a result of the chaos, proceedings in both houses were adjourned for the date.

As many as 18 motion notices have been sent to the chair on various issues including crimes in Delhi, alarming and continued violence in Manipur, Sambhal violence, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and Adani indictment.

Amid the uproar from the Opposition, topics were discussed including ‘laws to check vulgar content on social media’ by BJP MP Arun Govil.

The Rajya Sabha session began at 11.30 am, but opposition members immediately created a ruckus. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar urged members to allow the proceedings to continue, but opposition MPs insisted on raising a point of order.

In response, Dhankhar stated that points of order could only be addressed when the house functioned properly. Subsequently, the chairman adjourned the session until 11 am on November 28.

After the session adjourned, Rahul Gandhi addressed the media, insisting that Gautam Adani must be arrested. He highlighted that many individuals face jail for minor or major charges, asking, “Do you think Adani will admit to the allegations raised by the US?” When a journalist pointed out that Adani had denied all accusations, Rahul retorted, “Which world are you living in? Do you think Adani will accept the US allegations?”
