Panchkula School Assault: Third-Grader Played PUBG, Used Aggressive Video Games, Says Girl’s Family

The third-grade student accused of assaulting a six-year-old girl inside a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula used to play PUBG and other aggressive video games, the survivor’s family has claimed, adding that the boy’s father had also confirmed his gaming habits.

The girl’s uncle, Fazil, said the boy’s interest in violent games came to light after the incident. He alleged that the games may have influenced the child’s behaviour.

Speaking about the incident, Fazil said the boy first called the girl “crazy”. When she objected and threatened to complain about his remark, he told her that her father was upstairs and asked her to accompany him to a room where the assault took place.

Six-Year-Old Girl Recovering Under Medical Supervision

The six-year-old is recovering and remains under close medical supervision. Fazil said her condition had improved over the past few days, with doctors monitoring her health.

“She is doing better than before. For the past two or three days, she has been receiving excellent care. The doctors are monitoring her very closely; everything is being handled well,” he said.

Fazil also confirmed that two FIRs had been registered in connection with the incident, one against the school and another against the accused child.

Family Questions School Security Arrangements

The incident came to light earlier this week after the third-grade student allegedly attacked the girl with bricks inside the government school premises in Panchkula.

The assault reportedly continued even after the girl lost consciousness. The boy then dragged her around the school premises by her hair.

The survivor’s family has questioned the school’s security arrangements, alleging that the assault went unnoticed despite CCTV cameras being monitored from the principal’s office. The family also claimed that the accused boy himself led them to the injured girl.

Two Teachers Suspended, Child Rights Commission Steps In

The Haryana Education Department has suspended two Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers, Simranjeet Kaur and Pooja Rani, with immediate effect in connection with the incident.

The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has also taken suo motu cognisance of the matter.

The commission has directed the District Education Officer, Panchkula, to submit a comprehensive, point-wise factual report detailing the action taken by the Education Department.
