Over 20 students injured after goods train hits college bus in TN, bus driver booked for negligence

A bus carrying students of a private engineering college was hit by a goods train at an unmanned railway crossing near Karur in Tamil Nadu, leaving at least 20 students injured.
A bus carrying 50 students of a private engineering college of Tamil Nadu on Saturday was reportedly hit by a goods train when the bus was moving through the unmanned railway crossing the track between Veerarakkiyam and Palayam. This accident left more than 20 students injured who are undergoing treatment at the district government school.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazaghma (DMK) leader Senthil Balaji visited the injured students at hospital. Senthil Balaji reportedly said that there were 25 students injured and 2 of them were shifted to private hospitals.
The bus driver, Periyasamy, 64, who is still under treatment, has been reportedly booked under BNS section 281(rash or negligent driving on public way) and 125 A (rash or negligent driving that endangers others) by the police, reports.
