One killed, 24 injured due to electrocution during Muharram procession in Bihar
At least one person was killed and 24 others were injured due to electrocution during a Muharram procession in Bihar’s Darbhanga district on Saturday evening, according to reports.
The incident reportedly took place when the Muharram procession was passing through Kakorha village under the jurisdiction of the Sakatpur police station, and a portion of the tazia came in contact with a high-tension electric wire, Darbhanga DM Kaushal Kumar told the news agency.
He informed that one person had died and 24 others were injured in the procession.
According to reports, the injured are currently undergoing treatment, and no one is reported to be in serious condition as of now.
In a separate incident in Rohtas on June 27, during a Muharram procession in Nimiya Tikari village under the jurisdiction of the local police station, one person died and two others were critically injured after a tazia structure came in contact with a high-tension electricity wire.
Rohtas Superintendent of Police Raushan Kumar, confirming the incident, said that three individuals suffered severe electric shocks, and one of them succumbed to burn injuries at Sasaram Sadar Hospital. The other two remain in critical condition.
