After threatening Indian envoys in Canada, America, and Australia, Khalistan supporters are now doing the same in Britain. The UK issued a warning to the Khalistan lobby after calls to carry out a Khalistan ‘freedom rally’ on July 8 were reported in London. The British foreign minister, James Cleverly, reportedly said, “Any direct attacks on the Indian High Commission in London are completely unacceptable.”
Canadian PM responds to India
Recently, Canadian ambassadors were summoned to New Delhi concerning escalating activities by pro-Khalistan elements in Canada. Indian foreign minister S. Jaishankar reportedly said that ‘radical, extremist Khalistani ideology’ is not good for India or its partner countries such as the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau said that Canada has always taken "serious action" against terrorism.
Rumours about the SFJ leader circulate
In a separate incident, rumours were abuzz on social media regarding the death of the founder of the separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. The separatist ended the trial of rumours and confirmed that he is alive by releasing a video from outside the UN headquarters in the US on July 5. However, there has been no official confirmation of his death.
