‘Oggy Janata Party’ emerges as satirical rival to viral Cockroach Janta Party

In a fresh twist to India’s rapidly evolving meme-driven political satire space, the newly launched Oggy Janata Party (OJP) has emerged as a self-declared rival to the viral Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), triggering a flood of memes and online banter inspired by the popular cartoon series ‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’.
The parody rivalry has quickly gained traction across social media platforms, where users have turned the clash into a full-fledged internet spectacle.
OJP recently targeted CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke over his past association with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), highlighting his earlier role in the party’s social media and election campaign operations.
The group also shared an old 2024 social media post in which Dipke had thanked former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia before leaving for Boston.
“I’m truly grateful for all the opportunities you provided me while working with you. Leaving for Boston with your guidance as my compass. No distance will ever weaken my commitment to AAP,” Dipke had written in the earlier post.
According to OJP’s official website, the movement’s mission is to “kill all kinds of cockroaches”, describing its stand with the slogan: “Any roach. Any size. Any species. Dead.”
In one widely circulated Instagram post, OJP criticised what it described as “cockroach identity politics” by sharing photographs of Indian freedom fighters alongside a caption mocking unemployed youth celebrating the “cockroach” label.
The satirical outfit has also attempted to blend humour with advocacy, releasing an “animal rights manifesto” promising free healthcare for stray animals, stronger anti-cruelty laws, more shelters, feeding drives and awareness campaigns promoting pet adoption.
OJP has additionally voiced support for students affected by the NEET paper leak controversy and shared posts demanding justice for examination aspirants.
Despite being launched only recently, the movement has already attracted over 11,000 followers on Instagram.
The rise of OJP comes amid the explosive online popularity of the Cockroach Janta Party, which emerged following controversial remarks allegedly made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant comparing some unemployed youth and activists to “cockroaches”.
What began as internet satire has since evolved into a broader youth-driven meme movement drawing reactions from political leaders, activists and social media influencers.
