Offline registration for the annual Char Dham Yatra commenced on Thursday, with 2,713 pilgrims enrolling in person on the first day, reports stated.

The manual registration process has begun ahead of the yatra, which is scheduled to start on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

Reports citing official data show 683 pilgrims registered for Yamunotri Temple, 690 for Gangotri Temple, 667 for Kedarnath Temple and 673 for Badrinath Temple at offline counters set up by the authorities.

Officials reportedly said special teams are also visiting transit points to facilitate on-the-spot registration for devotees.

Meanwhile, the online registration process, which opened on March 6, continues to witness a strong response, with nearly 18.23 lakh pilgrims having registered digitally so far. The combined number of online and offline registrations has reached around 18.25 lakh, officials added.

The Char Dham Yatra covers four sacred shrines in Uttarakhand—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath—each holding deep religious significance for Hindus.

Authorities have advised pilgrims to carry valid identity proof, adhere to safety guidelines and keep track of weather and travel advisories, given the challenging terrain of the Himalayan region.
