Odisha man brings sister’s skeleton to bank to claim ₹20,000 from her account

In a shocking incident from Keonjhar district in Odisha, a man brought his dead sister’s skeleton to a bank while trying to withdraw money from her account, as per reports.
The incident happened at a branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in the Patana area. The man, Jeetu Munda (50), reportedly belongs to a tribal village and had been trying to withdraw ₹20,000 from his sister Kalra Munda’s account. She passed away around two months ago after an illness, noted the reports.
Jeetu had visited the bank many times, but officials asked him to show proper documents like a death certificate and proof of being legal heir. According to him, bank staff allegedly kept telling him to bring the account holder in person.
Out of frustration, Jeetu reportedly dug up his sister’s grave and carried her skeletal remains to the bank to prove that she had died. His act shocked everyone present there.
After getting information, local police reached the spot. A police officer reportedly said that Jeetu did not understand legal procedures and the bank also failed to explain things properly to him. The police later assured him that they would help him withdraw the money legally. The skeleton was then buried again respectfully in the presence of the police.
According to reports, the nominee in the account had also died, making Jeetu the only claimant. The local administration has now asked the bank to complete the process quickly and ensure that he receives the money without further trouble.
