Following a techie’s tragic death, authorities have swung into action and have taken stern steps against the people accountable for the alleged negligence that led to the tragic incident.

Police investigation  has followed the tragic death of a software engineer in Noida, with the Uttar Pradesh government removing the Noida Authority CEO and ordering a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, while Greater Noida Police have arrested the builder allegedly linked to the incident.

On Tuesday, Greater Noida Police arrested builder Abhay Kumar, owner of the MZ Wishtown real estate project in the Knowledge Park area, in connection with the death of 29 year old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta. The accused was taken into custody by the Knowledge Park police station team after being named in the case following a primary investigation.

The arrest comes days after a tragic accident on Friday night, when Yuvraj Mehta lost his life after his car fell into a waterlogged trench at a commercial construction site in Sector 150 amid heavy rainfall. The trench was reportedly uncovered and lacked basic safety measures such as barricades or warning signage.

Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to fix responsibility and ensure strict punishment for those found guilty. The SIT has been instructed to submit its report within five days.

Officials said strict action would be taken against all those found guilty of negligence. The incident has once again raised questions about civic negligence, unsafe construction practices, and the lack of monsoon preparedness in the city.
