The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday told a Parliamentary Standing Committee that the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak did not originate from its internal systems. Officials maintained that there was no confirmed ‘paper leak’ and claimed only ‘certain questions came out’ before the examination, according to reports.

The issue was reportedly discussed during a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, chaired by Digvijaya Singh.

Senior NTA officials, including Director General Abhishek Singh and Chairman Pradeep Kumar Joshi, appeared before the panel to explain the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of NEET UG 2026, the ongoing probe and reforms introduced after the NEET UG 2024 controversy.

Following which, opposition MPs questioned the agency over an intelligence failure, sought accountability from senior officials and demanded major structural reforms in the country’s central examination system.

The NTA Director after the paper leak had earlier said that the NEET UG examination conducted on May 3 had four different paper codes and no complete question paper was found circulating in the market.

He stated that while a PDF containing several questions had surfaced before the exam, only some of those questions matched the actual paper. According to him, no evidence has emerged so far to establish that the entire paper was leaked.
