A New Delhi court has sent Vinod Sehwag, the brother of former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, to judicial custody in connection with a cheque bounce case.

Vinod Sehwag, who is the Director of Jalta Food and Beverages, along with Vishnu Mittal and Sudhir Malhotra, has been charged under the Negotiable Instruments Act for issuing a bounced cheque.

According to reports, a businessman from Himachal Pradesh filed a complaint against Sehwag’s company, Jalta Foods, for failing to clear a payment of ₹7 crore.

The businessman alleged that Jalta Foods had purchased goods from his factory and later issued a cheque of ₹7 crore as payment. However, when the businessman deposited the cheque in the bank, it was bounced due to insufficient funds in the company's account.

After several unsuccessful attempts to recover his payment, the businessman decided to file a legal complaint against Sehwag’s company.

Reports further reveal that Vinod Sehwag already has 174 pending cheque bounce cases filed against him. Additionally, he has filed for bail in 138 cases and is scheduled to appear for a court hearing on March 10.
