NEET UG 2026 leak row: ‘Guess Paper’ sold for ₹30,000 to ₹28 lakh, 45 detained across multiple states

In the NEET UG paper leak row, the alleged guess paper which was circulated in Rajasthan’s Sikar, was sold for amounts ranging from ₹30,000 to as high as ₹28 lakh, as per sources.

This paper leak has reportedly been linked to Sikar, Delhi, Nagaur, And Keralam, which involves coaching centres , counselling agents and student networks. As per reports, an operator of a coaching institute in Sikar was also interrogated and detained, which revealed the name of an individual named Rakesh, who had reportedly handled MBBS counselling services outside major coaching institutes. 

As per reports, the paper was also distributed to girl students residing in a hostel in Rajasthan, assuring that this is exactly what will come in the exam.

According to sources, 45 people have been detained in the paper leak case. The Nashik Crime Branch has also detained a person from the jurisdiction of the Indiranagar Police Station, under the Nashik City Police based on the information provided by the Rajasthan Police. The NEET examination paper traveled from Nashik to Rajasthan via Haryana, as per reports.

Earlier in the day, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026, and announced that the exam will be re-conducted on fresh dates to be notified separately.

In a statement issued in continuation of its May 10 press release, the agency said the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after examining inputs in coordination with central agencies and reviewing investigative findings shared by law enforcement authorities.

According to NTA, the findings established that the existing examination process could not be allowed to stand, prompting the decision to cancel the examination in the interest of transparency and fairness.
