The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the eligibility criteria for admission in medical super speciality courses.
Even after the cut-off percentile was reduced from 50 to 20, the seats remained vacant.
Following this, the cut-off percentile for the candidates was reduced to zero.
The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the Medical Super Specialty NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) on Sept 29 and 30 at centres across the country. The results were announced on Oct 15.
For super speciality courses in NEET, the cut-off stands at the 50 percentile for open-category candidates.
But as the seats remained vacant even after two to three rounds of examinations, the cut-off percentile was reduced to 20.
As the seats remain vacant for the NEET-SS courses, a special vacant round will be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee, which could be given to all the students who have taken the NEET exams.
This situation of removing the provisional cut-off from NEET-SS came forward for the first time.
The cutoff percentile was also reduced to zero in PG-Medical courses. The NEET cut-off has been reduced for many years as a significant number of seats go empty every year for PG-Medical courses.
