NEET aspirant from Ahmedabad dies by suicide in Kota

In their dogged pursuit to crack NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), a national medical studies entrance exam, several aspiring doctors are losing their lives.

An aspiring student  from Ahmedabad who was preparing for NEET died by suicide in Kota, Rajasthan on Wednesday.

As per the landlord’s brotherMahendra Nagar, Afsha Sheikh was found hanging in her room around 10.30 am, as per reports.

Jawahar Nagar police reached the spot and shifted the body of the student to a nearby hospital.

Circle Inspector (CI) Ram Laxman Gurjar said that a post-mortem will be conducted after the family arrives. The reason behind the girl taking the extreme step is not known.

The girl landed in Kota to prepare for NEET six months ago, after completing her Class 12 and was staying as a paying guest.

As per reports, the room where she died by suicide did not have anti-suicide device in the ceiling fan

This is the fifth incident of suicide in the 22 days of 2025. ‘Mental stress’ has emerged as a common reason behind the suicide of students. 

Recently, a 19-year-old engineering aspirant from Haryana, Neeraj Jat,  died by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his room in Kota on January 8.
