Mud House Collapses In Aurangabad, 12-Year-Old Girl Dies; Four Family Members Injured

A 12-year-old girl was killed and four members of her family injured after their mud house collapsed in Sinhudi village of Bihar’s Aurangabad district, police said on Friday.

Family Trapped Under Debris

The incident took place in the Obra police station area when Poonam Devi was sleeping inside the old mud house with her four children.

The structure suddenly collapsed, trapping all five family members under the debris. Their screams and cries for help alerted villagers, who rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation.

After considerable effort, villagers pulled the family members out. However, Babli Kumari could not be saved.

Mother And Three Children Injured

Babli’s mother, Poonam Devi, and her three other children — Nandani Kumari, Rimi Kumari and Kundan Kumar — suffered serious injuries.

All the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital in Aurangabad, where doctors declared Babli dead on arrival. The four injured family members remain under treatment.

Heavy Rain May Have Weakened House

The area has witnessed heavy rainfall over the past few days, which may have weakened the mud structure and possibly contributed to its collapse.

Obra SHO Nitish Kumar said police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. He confirmed that the girl died after being trapped under the debris.

Police conducted the post-mortem and handed the body over to the family for the last rites. The case has also been recommended to the district magistrate’s office for compensation.

Former MLA Seeks Permanent House

Former MLA Rishi Yadav expressed grief over the death and urged the district administration to provide the affected family with a permanent house and adequate compensation.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
