Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the BJP-ruled state will set up “Garbh Sanskar” rooms in government hospitals and introduce courses on the subject in all universities, including medical institutions.

Garbha means womb, and Sanskar means values. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its allied organisations have long promoted the idea of Garbh Sanskar, claiming that a child can absorb cultural and moral values while in the womb, with the process continuing until the age of two.

Speaking at a programme of ‘Divya Santan Prakalp’ in Indore on Sunday, Chief Minister Yadav said Garbh Sanskar is a way to empower future generations and strengthen them physically, mentally, and morally. The event focused on promoting the practice, and the CM also released a book related to Garbh Sanskar on the occasion.

“Even allopathy experts are now acknowledging the importance of Garbh Sanskar. My daughter herself is a gynaecologist, and she also practises Garbh Sanskar at her hospital,” Yadav said, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The chief minister added that the state government would soon issue a gazette notification to ensure that Garbh Sanskar is included in the curriculum of all medical universities in Madhya Pradesh.

Referring to mythological figures such as Abhimanyu and Ashtavakra, Yadav said Garbh Sanskar has always held a special place in Sanatan culture and can help build a strong and value-based society.

He further announced that in the future, Garbh Sanskar rooms will be established in government hospitals practising both AYUSH and allopathy systems of medicine.

The announcement has drawn attention as the state moves to institutionalise a practice rooted in traditional beliefs through public healthcare and higher education systems.
