Man’s body found inside freezer at closed biryani shop in Lucknow

The body of a 38-year-old man was recovered from the freezer of a vegetarian biryani shop in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow, as per reports.
The incident came to light when the owner of the eatery, near the GCRGC College gate, reopened the shop after it had remained shut for four days and discovered the body inside a freezer. He immediately alerted the police.
As per reports, the deceased, Vijay Pal (38), son of Dalai, was a resident of Kishunpur village in BKT.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Gopal Krishna Chaudhary reached the spot along with a police team after receiving information about the incident.
Preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the shop was a temporary structure and that the electricity supply to the freezer in which the body was found had been disconnected. The deceased’s mobile phone and Aadhaar card were recovered from his pocket, which helped establish his identity.
Police said there were no visible external injury marks on the body, adding to the mystery surrounding the circumstances of his death.
Officials are probing how the man entered the locked shop and how he came to be inside the freezer. CCTV cameras installed around the premises are being examined to ascertain when the shop was last operational and when Vijay Pal may have entered the premises.
