A man in Faridabad allegedly ended his life along with his four sons by jumping in front of a train on Tuesday afternoon, following a domestic dispute with his wife, as per reports.
According to police sources, the deceased, a daily wage labourer from Bihar, was residing in Subhash Colony, Faridabad just a few metres from the railway tracks.
Investigations reveal that a heated argument had taken place between the man and his wife earlier that morning. The deceased reportedly accused his wife of having an extramarital affair, which she denied. She claimed that even when she spoke to her own brother, her husband grew suspicious.
Following the altercation, around 1 pm, the man left home with his four sons aged three, five, nine, and ten reportedly informing his wife that he was taking them to the park.
However, he took them to the nearby railway tracks and jumped in front of the Golden Temple Mail along with them.
All five were killed on the spot. The train’s loco pilot immediately alerted the railway authorities after the incident.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the children were seen pleading with their father to let them go, but he refused. Locals stated that the man had been sitting near the tracks for nearly 30 minutes before the incident and had bought chips and cold drinks for the children.
Following the tragedy, police recovered the remains of the deceased from the tracks and sent them for postmortem. The bodies are expected to be handed over to the family on Wednesday.
