Amid the suspense over the Maharashtra chief minister position, the three top leaders of the MahaYuti alliance – Devendra Fadnavis of BJP, Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar of NCP - will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday.

Despite the landslide victory of the alliance, the suspense over the CM’s position continues after four days of results.

Clearing some air on Wednesday, Eknath Shinde said, “I spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and thanked them for their solid support during my two and half year tenure as the Chief Minister. I have told them I won’t be a hurdle or speed breaker in forming the new MahaYuti government but will extend full support to the BJP’s candidate for the Chief Minister’s post,” while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

With Shinde aligning, the path seems clear for a new government, likely led by BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, to take the oath.

However, the mystery will be revealed only after the BJP high command’s decision.

Notably, MahaYuti outperformed their opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Assembly polls by winning 234 total 288 seats. Of these, the BJP secured 132 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) won 57, and the NCP won 41 seats.
