Maha Kumbh 2025 VVIP passes, vehicular movement cancelled

Following the tragic stampede at the Sangam area of the Maha Kumbh where 30 people died and 60 others sustained in Prayagraj, the state government imposed stricter rules. 

The entire fairground has now been declared a no-vehicle zone. Entry for all types of vehicles has been completely restricted.  

Crowd control

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed all arrangements, deployed officials, and issued new directives. According to the administration, these changes aim to manage the crowd at the Kumbh and ensure the safety of devotees. Devotees are being urged to follow the administration’s guidelines and cooperate in avoiding any disorder.  

5 major changes implemented at Mahakumbh  

  • No-vehicle zone – A complete ban on all types of vehicles within the fairground.  
  • VVIP passes cancelled– No vehicle will be allowed entry using special passes.  
  • One-way policy – A one-way road policy has been implemented to facilitate smooth movement of devotees.  
  • Border checkpoints – Vehicles arriving from districts connected to Prayagraj will be stopped at the borders.  
  • Four-wheeler ban – Entry of four-wheelers into the city is strictly banned until February 4.

Uttar Pradesh CM issued several guidelines focusing on crowd control, traffic management, and inter-departmental coordination.

Following the stampede, he expressed condolences to the victims and announced financial assistance of ₹ 25- ₹ 25 lakhs to the families of victims.
